Expanding its AMG portfolio in India, Mercedes-Benz today launched the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe at a price of Rs 74.8 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The SUV is loosely based on the Mercedes C-Class sedan and but features an AMG-made engine which is shared by the company’s 43-badged stable.
According to a report by the Financial Times, GLC 43 Coupe comes with AMG’s 362 hp (367 PS) 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 engine, powering an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The engine is coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission that enables the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in approximately 4.9 seconds while being capable of reaching 250 kmph electronically. For better rideability, the SUV also receives an independent sports suspension with adjustable dampers along with an adjustable ride height.
The GLC 43 Coupe comes with five drive modes, namely, Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. Each mode tweaks the engine, gearbox, steering and suspension. It also allows better fuel efficiency through its cylinder shut-off and start-stop features.
In terms of design the GLC 43 Coupe features noticeable changes over the standard GLC SUV which starts at Rs. 65.35 lakh (ex-showroom India). It comes with a diamond radiator grille with chrome pins, sporty air intakes and a chrome front splitter. The rear continues with the use of chrome and plated tailpipes along with a sharper spoiler lip than the regular GLC.
According to a report by Overdrive, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe also comes with standard 19-inch alloys wheel plates. Buyers can also opt for 21-inch bi-chromatic alloys instead of the 19-inch alloy wheel plates. The report also mentions that the SUV’s taillights are similar to the ones seen on the Mercedes S-Class Coupe.
In terms of interiors, the GLC 43 Coupe comes with black leather upholstery with a contrasting red stitching for a sporty look. A 7.0-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity that comes with a surround sound system consisting of a 9-channel amplifier and 13 speakers.
