Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to launch bikes based on the BSA and Yezdi brands in India. Pawan Goenka, the Managing Director of Automotive Business of the company in a statement to PTI confirmed that the company will soon move away from the commuters segment to high-end premium bikes in India. Mahindra & Mahindra acquired Jawa and BSA motorcycles last year and had announced that it would make two-wheeler Jawa and BSA motorcycles available in two years.

The company chairman and managing director Anand Mahindra recently tweeted the launch of the website ‘Yezdis of India’ increasing the expectations of the launch of BSA and Yezdi -based two-wheeler bikes in India. The launch date of the motorcycles has not been confirmed by the company officials. The company is expected to show the upcoming two-wheeler models in 2018 Auto Expo.
Jawa launched a 350 cc two-wheeler bike in its home country in May. The two-wheeler, called as the 207 Jawa 350, is powered by a 350 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine and produces a peak torque of 32 Nm at 4,750 rpm and 26 bhp at 5,250 rpm. Jawa 350 OHC is the first model launched by the company to feature ABS. The bike has a top speed of 120 kph and is mated to a 4-speed gearbox.
Yezdi was one of the most popular motorcycle brands in the 70s and 80s in India. Mahindra & Mahindra is also planning to launch two new models in the Indian passenger vehicle segment by the end of the next fiscal year.
